I am proud to announce that the Town Board settled the CSEA contract on Tuesday night. The Town agreed to a six-year deal that averages out to 1.65 per year. The CSEA accepted 0% raises for 2011 and 2012. New members of the CSEA will have to pay 17% toward their health benefits for the entire time they are employed by the Town, up from 10%. New members will have their sick days reduced by six days. Finally, new members will have to work 15 years, up from 10 years, to get lifelong health benefits. This settlement benefits both Town Employees and the Town. The Town received increased contributions toward health benefits, decreased sick days and remained under the 2% state mandated tax cap while the Town Employees received a fair raise for their hard work. The negotiations and final settlement were spear headed by myself, as well as Denis Troy and Paul Valentine.
