I am proud to be associated with my cousin Vusi Mchunu, the gifted poet, translator and founder of the House of Memory heritage museum project in South Africa. Vusi has been in London to attend Africa Writes, and participated in Africa in Translation: Poetry in (e)motion, the symposium facilitated by our mutual friend Wangui Wa Goro. Vusi recently published his translation of the late Mazisi Kunenes poems from Zulu to English, a mammoth task given the profundity of the originals by one of Africas greatest poets and thinkers. He also produced the final album by another of South Africas legendary artists, Busi Mhlongo. Long may their spirits animate our dreams...
