I am proud to say today is the 1 year anniversary of Cape Cod Youth Field Hockey! My husband and I started CCYFH to give girls on Cape Cod the chance to learn to play field hockey at a young age. We were on the turf that night, one year ago at Compass Athletics, with 14 girls. Flash forward one year, we have 175 girls in the CCYFH network, two K-5 Learn to Play Clinics, two U16 Field Hockey Leagues in Sandwich, one U11 Field Hockey League in Sandwich, and we are expanding with a third U16 Field Hockey League to the outer Cape at the beginning of 2015. In addition, we run field hockey camps in the summer and also one one one instruction. This past year I completed a Level 1 USA Field Hockey certification course and am now a Level 1 USA Field Hockey Coach. Monday was our registration for our two winter K-5 clinics, we filled up both classes in 24 hours. I am ecstatic to be a part of spreading field hockey fever. Most importantly though, we are spreading the message of empowering young girls. Every single girl that I have met through our program has touched my heart. I could take each one home with me, they are that spectacular. Outside of being called Mom, being called Coach is the best title I have ever had. No corporate job has ever held a candle to the satisfaction I have of working with these girls. Today, one year later, I am feeling so very grateful!
