I am raising an issue concerning unsustainable development. We must remember that while our needs are fulfilled, we must not forget the needs of others. I’m calling for PRESERVATION- preservation of our values, health, safety, and living environment. Preserve our trees and environment and we preserve our health. Preserve Life! Unsustainable development which infringes upon the rights of individuals and life to exist in safety, health and peace MUST be Stopped! Sungai Buloh, my place of residence for example is currently faced with issues of seemingly uncontrolled and unsustainable development of highly populated densities. What was once a tree-lined and dead end street is becoming an open road as we speak. As an EXIT point only it serves the need of residents but let us not forget the needs of others. The linking of Jalan Sierramas Barat with Jalan Hospital must ensure the preservation of ALL communities and the natural environment here (whats left of it!). Let this not be an excuse for further private, commercial and business enterprise which violates the rights of individuals and destroys the environment. I am urging all to participate in a ‘tree planting or ‘greening of Jalan Sierramas Barat’ linking with Jalan Hospital and all neighbourhoods. We have so much to be thankful for with our tree lined streets, vibrant facelift of Sierramas West and gorgeous plant nurseries within walking distance. .with people just like you and I who have lived and worked at these nurseries for over 20 years; with a history and way of life which MUST be preserved. Plants and flowers from these nurseries adorn our homes during festivals and parties… A temple sits right next door– what JOY for prayer and service! …A religious school for our muslim neighbors. A rich cultural heritage to be proud of indeed! Cheers! Delphine Gomez
