I am reaching the point of violence I am so angry! Fair warning: long story... So Nicholas and I are trying to be able to buy a house this summer. We had to get a credit report done. This credit report shows that I have a judgement in my name from an apartment complex (Keys West) from many years ago. (annoyance, but assumed just bad paper work, not a big thing) So the thing with this particular complex is, I lived there with a roommate and things went really horrible. So horrible I was cutting out of the lease early. We lived there six months or so, and the lease was for one year. So that I wouldnt have to pay extra for breaking the lease, and to not have it on my credit report (irony), I found some people that I worked with to take over the lease. We moved out, they moved in, everything was hunky-dory. Ok so, this complex has filed (3, two were paid) suits in my name for rent unpaid from a time I assume is actually the new people living there, not me because even though I dont live there, its still my name on the lease because of the breaking of contract. Fine, I get it, I was still responsible. I dont remember exactly when I lived there... the judgement is from FIVE YEARS AGO! Not to mention, this company NEVER ONCE contacted me to try and get this paid, they just hopped their little butts down to the courthouse and filed suit. So, because I dont remember exactly when I lived there (I keep excellent records, for the normal THREE YEARS Im supposed to) I am just going on the assumption that there is some missed paperwork somewhere and this can all be sorted out. So, Im lying in bed this morning, thinking about when I lived where and if there is anything I can come up with in my memory that will tell me when I lived at certain places. This judgement is from May of 2009 (the other two that state they were paid are from Aug. 2009, and Sept 2009), and I realize, lying in bed barely awake, that I graduated with my Bachelors in 2009, August 2009. In August 2009 I was living at Campus Corner apartments with Nick. I know this because he was there as I attended my last semester of classes. I was not living at Keys West, I hadnt been living in Keys West for TWO YEARS! So, this judgement is not from a time that I was even remotely responsible to these people. I lived in Campus Corner apartments for a year and a half, ending December 2009. Back up a year and a half or so is summer 2008. For the six months or so previous to that I was living with my Aunt Sandi in Blanchard. That puts me moving out of Keys West in about December of 2007 (it was icy on the steps of Keys West when I was moving boxes and I spent Christmas at my moms that year...) So our lease would have ended at Keys West in the summer of 2008 anyway, how the eff can they be asking me for money a YEAR LATER in 2009?!?!?!? OH WAIT! They never did ask, they just went to the courthouse and filed!!!!!! So I got up and went searching through the records I do have, and guess what?!?! I found the lease agreement for Campus Corner apartments starting APRIL 2008 (but not the renewal for 2009, I have already called them asking if they still have records from then, waiting on a return call), and supporting bills and paycheck statements that show I was living at Campus Corner, not Keys West in the months following. I am LIVID. Not to mention, the company that owned Keys West when I lived there, NO LONGER EXISTS! I am trying to get records from SEVEN YEARS AGO from a company that didnt even own the property then! EFF ME! Needless to say, I will be taking whatever legal action I can to get this expunged from my record. Seven years later, something that is not even real is screwing up my chances to buy a house now with my husband. I am pissed.
