I am really doing the merry go round with Joplin and the doctors on taking care of my poor nose! I finally got into an ENT this morning who (like my internist) looks from across the room and says....wow...your nose is broken. He did finally stick something up in it and look for a second to say he could see all the deformity of it. He told me (like I heard from every ENT office on Friday) that it is now day 15 and nothing can be done because it has started healing. He said he could not have fixed it even if I HAD been able to get in to see him last week and the only doctor in Joplin that even MIGHT be able to fix the damage is Dr Shagets and insurance would proclaim it is no longer a traumatic injury....turns into cosmetic surgery by some sort of magic TODAY! He believes I will have to have an open septorhinoplasty with cartilage grafts. This is a much more involved thing than a cosmetic nose job! My poor health insurance agent happened to call me and did he ever hear about it. They talked to Anthem Blue Cross who said they have never heard of such a thing. What the heck???!! Even the insurance thinks the doctors are crazy.
