I am really hoping that anyone out there with a spark of ingenuity can come up with anything remotely as successful as the Ice Bucket was to MS for cancer. In the last 4 years Ive watched cancer take out my best friends mom, my close friends dad, my best bud from childhoods dad, her thirty something year old sister-in-law, 2 uncles, and my own mom. Also found out a friend from high school lost her husband, a year younger than I just last week. And most recently, I was befriended by someone about a year ago on Instagram who was diagnosed with stomach cancer, age 29. He was inspired by a post about my mom. I just learned that he was admitted to hospice today. I dont know if I have bad luck, but this cancer thing has been a constant shadow for the last few years and has been overwhelming. Its the young ones that are getting to me. It doesnt help that I lost my estranged best friend from childhood at 17 to bone cancer either. Like I said just a constant shadow. So if anybody has any ideas Im all ears because Im just at a loss right now and every time I hear about somebody dying from cancer I take it personal.
