I am really really fed up with Scott Morrisons callous lack of compassion for asylum seekers. Todays media reports he is still working on a plan (or is it some form of bribal incentive) to deport certain asylum seekers to Cambodia. Here are a few facts about Cambodia: one third of the countrys population survive on a $1 or less per day; 40% of children under the age of 5 years are malnourished; 20% of children aged between 5-9 years are engaged in forced child labor. Why would any person with an ounce of compassion or common sense think such a country has the capacity to deal with asylum seekers that could easily be accommodated in a rich country like Australia. Our problem as a nation is a moral one: we are guilty of not just saying no to people needing our help but via the punitive punishments being meted out by Scott Morrison as Immmigration minister to asylum seekers we are guilty of human rights abuse of men women and children. Shame on Scott Morrison! Shame on Tony Abbott and the weak kneed Labor politicians who are also guilty of a moral failure of real national leadership
