I am really saddened to hear the news about Robin Williams. He was brilliant, kind, and extraordinarily funny....to the bone funny....and to the bone often tragic. When I hear this kind of news, of his death, Phillip Seymour, and others, I struggle to make sense of it. I cant. But what I do hope is that they may be a catalyst for opening the discussion about addiction, suicide and the effects of depression. In our own small community this year we have had people decide that death was better than life. You wonder why, I know I do.....perhaps Robins death and others who seemingly have really everything to live for....will remind us that it is much more complex than that......and that we need to be more cognizant of what others are going through. We may not be able to change the outcome....but hopefully we can perhaps find a path to help them before this level of despair is reached. I dont know.....I am just once again ......heartbroken.
