I am reposting Shayai Luceros comments from an earlier post about Rep Don Tripp: When I was a college student at NMTech, students would use the storage units owned by Mr. Tripp, including me, to store items in the summer. Well, before one fall semester, I went to retrieve my items from storage and found my unit had been cleared out 5 days BEFORE my term ended. I was upset and went to the office immediately and talked with Mr. Tripp personally. I had my contract with me and explained what happened. He left the office and then came back saying the unit was cleared and the items went to the landfill. I told him the items included text books, household items (sheets, blankets, coffee maker, etc.), photo albums, awards, notebooks with class notes, etc. His reasoning was the person who cleared it, Didnt think they were that important and took them to the dump. WTH!! I asked him why was it cleared 5 days before my contract ended and why wasnt I notified? He couldnt give me an answer, offered me $300 for the storage unit rental and said, That should cover the cost of the text books too. I told him, No thank you Mr. Tripp because I will be seeing you in court. He responded, The meeting is over now please leave my office. I contacted a lawyer and was eventually given $5000 for my items that I could remember were missing. But items like photos, letters from my brothers and grandmother, etc. couldnt be added to the list because I couldnt write them individually down or prove they were in the unit. So every time I would see him in Socorro or at a political function, he would avoid me or give me a curt greeting. He also wanted me to sign a non-disclosure agreement and I refused.
