I am sadden again by another school shooting. Matt Lauder acted surprised by the heroic sacrifice of the teacher who gave his life for the students. Im not. People go into education for the love of children. Notice...about to rant. Stop reading now if you dont want to read my opinion.... People have a tendency to categorize educators as those teachers, especially when upset. But in reality educators are us.... our family members, our neighbors, the person next to us in the pew at church. We are not some group with a hidden liberal agenda to indoctrinate children. We are your friends who felt a God-given tug in our heart to teach. This teacher did what I believe most of us, who treasure our kids, would do in the same situation. I bless this man & his family for his action. He saved lives & unselfishly sacrificed the happiness of his family in the process. Hug each other a little tighter today, and know as a community of people, with our own God-given, unique gifts, we can make a difference to others. I do believe we need less categorizing & more community. Im also sad that a 12 yr old kid saw no other way out than to bring a gun to school, harm others, & take his life. Rant is officially over!
