I am saddened by the series of acts of terror across this country. Yesterday evening Jos was hit again by a twin bomb blast. People lost their lives, people lost loved ones, limbs and arms, livelihood and serenity...May the souls of those departed rest in peace, may those who are injured receieve their healing and may those who lost loved ones be comforted. This is a time of grieving and not time for the blame game. This is time for inner reflection and a time to ask the deepest questions. It is time to fight the idea...Terrorism. Today I stand to question each one of Us especially those blaming the government for every ill in soviety. Are the terrorists ghosts? They live among Us. Security agencies thrive on information...have We as citizens provided any information that will lead to arrests? These people live among Us and they have a lot of sympathizers. What can the government do if We do not play Our part? Do you know what your neighbour does for a living? Have you taken time to observe his kind of visitors? Fighting terrorism is a collective act. I have seen friends on facebook calling for change because they feel the president is weak and unfortunately non of them condemed the terrorists or their sponsors. I wish you understand what Our gallant security men are doing to keep Us safe in human terms because only GOD Protects. I have lost friends and acquintances to terrorists activities. I survived the first blast in Jos because I was less than 50 meters away from the epicenter. I have watched maimed bodies and had terrible dreams. If you think fighting terrorism is only for the government, you have failed as a person. For those of you making a political meal out of it, i have some questions while i make a case for the present administration. Why must there be a bomb attack whenever the president has a major event to attend to? Why have we not looked at anything he has done right and praised him? Has he done anything right? How many of you pray for him? Does GOD answer your prayers? What is terrorism? We want change right? But what kind of change? There has been no government in Nigeria that has had to deal with terrorism and a polarised security apparatus as this government. Terrorism is an idea...an act of inflicting pain and fear through violence and bloodshed. This is done to instill fear in the population and making them believe that the government cannot secure them. Check out every country that has internal terrorism and understand how difficult it is to manage such. Ask the UK about the IRA or watch Pakistan and Iraq and a host of others. I have spoken with a number of security operatives who have confirmed that there are a lot of Boko Haram Sympathizers among them. It is dufficult to detect moles. Even the most advanced countries know how difficult it is...if it were that easy to detect We would not have #wikileaks. A lot of Our young men are dying in the line of fire because their comrades are betrying them. How do you win a battle when the enemy is within? We dont need strong men as leaders, We need strong institutions. It is the institution that makes a leader strong, not the other way round. Our foundation as a nation is flawed and it will take years to correct. The office of the president is stronger than the man...it is what makes the man strong. It is the job of the legislature to provide strong institutions...We should hold them responsible for the failure of government. A case for change: We want change yet We recycle leaders? We are not ready for change. Men who we termed corrupt all of a sudden became saints because they left the ruling party while others that left the opposition suddenly became sinners for joining the ruling party? Men who created deep divisions among Us by their utterances and antecedents are now agents of change? Men who trauncated democracy, showed sectionalism and preference for their kin are termed upright? Men who arrested Fela Anikulapo Kuti for earning legitimate pay in foreign currency while his ADC was caught with over 50 Suitcases of foreign currency and later rewarded with an emirship? Men who locked up politicians with no fair hearing? Men who kept a President (his kin) under house arrest in the presidential villa while his Vice ( Chief Alex Ekweme) was taken to kirikiri? Men who worked with the brutal regime of Sani Abacha and executed PTF projects selectively? Men who introduced austerity measures because they could not manage the economy? Why didnt Gen. Tunde Idiagbon join him in working for Abacha even when he was invited to? Men whose utterances led to the killing of innocent men and women in 2011? Is this your agent of change? If We want change, why are We not talking about a Donald Duke/ Fashola ticket? We sure deserve the kind of leadrs We get. If you offer Me change, offer Me something better than the present. Something that will make the present look like a joke. All the opposition has promised is the desire to unseat the ruling party...let the give Me their economic plan, their counter-terrorism plan and their ideology. I want politicians who see beyond their parochial needs. I want men with a panaromic view of things. Is it an opposition where Tinubus wife is senator? His son-in-law winning the APC ticket for the house or Lai Mohammeds son winning the ticket for the house of assembly? These men are a mirror image of the men they are accusing of not being able to rule. Is it El-Rufai who called for the destruction of Gonin Gora? A man whose antecedents at the BPE leaves much to be desired? A man who gave plots of lands to his croonies in choice parts of Abuja including his unborn child? A man who selectively demolished settlements? Please no one should tell Me that these men are agents of change. Men with no ideology, only pursuing their selfish interests. I rest My case.
