I am saddened by what I saw on my way home from work today. I was driving down Sepulveda Blvd. at Roscoe, in the left turn lane. I noticed a woman laying on the sidewalk, using her backpack stuffed full of her worldly belongings, as a pillow, sleeping. She had on a filthy dress, sweater, flat shoes, and looked like she had not bathed in weeks. A middle-aged heavy set woman, obviously homeless. I have seen people sleeping under the Roscoe Blvd. overpass from the freeway in the mornings, too. People just walk by like it is nothing, they do not even glance down. They are not worried or concerned. This is Van Nuys, CA, United States of America. This is a country that is spending millions to put an astronaut in space as an experiment for a year. That spends billions on overseas aid and a war. Call me crazy or naïve, but there is something wrong with this picture.
