I am safely at my gate in Tampa, FL, USA before my 20+ hours travel back to Seoul. A BIG Thank you to my family and friends who made this all-too-brief return home so packed with seafood, ribs, smiles, hugs, BBQ, sangria, purrs, cuddles, zombie-killing, crab leg snapping, margaritas, foot massaging, story telling, furniture moving, student loan reality checks, laughter, financial planning, artichoke cheese squares and validation. I absorbed as much love as I could in these two weeks. I was able to visit with family members that I may not ever see again, help a family member secure her health insurance, share unbridled joy with TheGodson, and reconnect with an Uncle I had not seen or talked to in over 30 years. I was able to say goodbye to my sweet Rose (Rose the Cat) whose body is about to succumb to the enevitable before making her journey across the Rainbow Bridge. So far, of the gifts I have for my co-workers and principal, there has been one casualty: I have slept for 45 minutes since waking up Thursday AM, and my delerious mind was careless as I unloaded one of my bags from my friends car. I heard the crash and shatter of a beautiful mug I had intended for my principal at my school. A pity and a rude awakening for me to be more careful (and vigilant) as I travel. Korea, I am coming to you with a renewed conviction that I must take better care of this body my friends and family have trusted me to care for. Kimchi, I may not like you, but I WILL learn to love you. Onward....
