I am sharing this from the AAFA Facebook page. It is a response from John McDonald (CORPORATE COMMUNICATIONS) regarding retiree travel benefits to an email sent by a retiree. Not a point of reconsidering...... it is a point of making sure everyone understands the new pass program. The world has changed – AA went bankrupt and merged with another carrier. As tough as it is for everyone, the new airline had to make tough decisions to ensure we had the best pass program in the industry and balanced everyone’s interests .. .and that means not doing things only in the interests of the retirees. Everyone has a seat at the table. Folks don’t like change … and we hear that … but change is here and it is time to move on with life and accept the decisions we have all made. We did the best we could at the time we made the calls (for us, retirees, actives, buddies, etc.) … and now we are on to a new day. The retirees took their case to the Board of Directors – that is about as high as you can go – as well as the media – and here we are. Same program, same decisions. They are good, balanced decisions that are creating the best overall program in the industry … and we are not ashamed to explain that to folks who ask. Not wanting to sound cold or uncaring … we have devoted more time and energy on this issue than many in recent memory. But what folks need to recognize is that the decisions have been made, grievances are being heard, the plan is being implemented and we are going to move on. As a business owner, I know you know that. So - Always happy to hear the concerns – and take time to engage folks and help them understand. Thanks, again, for taking the time to write. I hope you have a great holiday weekend and can enjoy it with your family and friends. -- John John McDonald VP Corporate Communications and Public Affairs Description: cid:49F8CA06-65F7-457B-9DC0-8251F696295B
