I am sharing this piece for its literary value, since some of it comes from the play J.B. written in free verse by American playwright and poet Archibald MacLeish. It is a modern retelling of the story of the biblical figure Job. This is also a sharing of myself, of how I was influence by a loving father and family. How I still am in so many good ways. We did of course have our father and son conflicts when I was young and rebellious, did I mention headstrong. Still, it was both of my parents who taught me to love good literature. This is simply one example as to how this happen. Dad was always quoting some poet or playwright when we were kids growing up, not to mention theologians. I was exposed to more literature and theology by age 12, then most people are in a lifetime, with the poets and playwrights added extras. Dad always wanted to write a book, beyond his thesis that is, but he never finished. Perhaps I will finish it for him, I would like to do that one day. He was very proud of the literary work I was doing, and astounded at the endorsements I received for WHEN ANGELS ARE BORN, as was I and still am. Today we gather as a family to celebrate together a life well lived and a person well loved. Please go to the link below to read the note I posted this morning.
