I am sharing this post from Jay Strongman, it was the first item I read this morning and gave me the literary equivalent of a pull yourself together slap in the face. Last night I felt numb and flat and sad; this morning I read this post and then listened to he most rousing and passionate version of La Mareseillaise from one of my favourite movies. It also brought to mind the end of the film when Rick exhorts Ilsa to get on the plane; he says ...t it doesnt take much to see that the problems of three little people dont amount to a hill of beans in this crazy world... and it is true; however I feel is inconsequential and only important in my immediate vicinity, both physical and mental but as a giant mountain of like minded beans we must be able to do something to stop this. Jay calls it religious fascism which is the most apt description I have heard. I refuse to have the joy, humour and love sucked out of me by this kind of tragedy as to allow it to happen is to let them win, I am raising my coffee, saluting the dead, singing along (badly) and will watch my deluxe anniversary edition of Casablanca this weekend.
