I am sharing what my son, Max, wrote about the Ferguson, MO incident. I have a son, Alec, who is a police officer and I totally agree with what Max wrote! Well said, son! Proud of you! Max wrote: I love protests, they show that the people of our country still have the right to petition our government for what they/we believe is right. However, going and looting stores that have absolutely nothing to do with what is being protested is asinine and downright criminal (Now, I can understand the liquor store thats acceptable lol jk). What happened to Dr. Kings method of non-violent civil disobedience? People really think that the way they acted last night really solved anything? It just brought around more turmoil in the face of justice and racial divides. However, I do understand that black people everywhere are stereotyped by the police and go through unjust treatment because of the color of their skin. Ive personally witnessed this myself and it infuriates me. There is nothing worse than to have someone who is suppose to protect the law break it. Individuals who abuse their power under any circumstances (Especially Police Officers, Judges, and Politicians) should be prosecuted to the upmost extent of the law. Which brings me to my next point, instead of letting these individuals off with a slap on the wrist they should be fired and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. And finally I just want to say that I believe that Darrell Wilson was justified in shooting Michael Brown, but I believe six shots was too many for an unarmed man. Three shots I can understand or four shots maximum when youre dealing with an unarmed individual but six shots youre shooting to kill. However, from another stand point if that was my brother or one of my friends who are Police Officers I would have wanted them to shoot the suspect ten times, because its better to be judged by 12 than be carried by six. Whatever actually happened that night we will never fully grasp because most of us has never been in a situation like that but respect your police officers they are here to help but at the same do not allow them to get away with either because no one is above the law.
