I am sick and irritated by Liberians tolerance for immoral leaders. Thinking about it makes me want to vomit, it makes me want to cry, it makes me sad and heart broken. Why do we expect so little from our leaders? Do we have any idea what it means to be a leader? Do we seriously believe without a doubt, that those who are going to do the work it requires to uplift Liberia, are those who are only interested in putting food on our tables, giving us jobs and providing electricity, water and education system? What education system? To teach us what? Are we too blind to see and understand that providing all these things, is one thing and maintaining them, is something completely different? Dont we understand that it takes men and women with strong principles, values and morals to build a system that will maintain the things we wish for? If we dont have men and women with character, no matter how hard we work, our work is in vain? I do not expect a leader to be perfect but I expect a leader to know right from wrong and to be sound enough, not to glorify wrong but to take responsibility and acknowledge wrong when it is been committed. Are we so blind, that we are not aware, the root of corruption is found in the lack of principles, morals and values? Moral character should be at the top of our list, when defining leadership in Liberia. You could be a market woman, if you are wise and you have courage, strength, morals, values, principles, determination, you can lead Liberia into success, knowledge, you will gain with your experience because a wise person always willing to learn. Im telling Liberian people mehn, this is what we should be looking for. This is the essence of leadership, set your leaders aside, look for men and women with good character, their morals and values wont allow them to fail you, and even if they make a mistake, they will have enough conscious not to continue down that path but seek forgiveness because they are aware that it is wrong.
