I am signing this petition because I am a leader of the Gullah/Geechee Nation and not only will the lives in the ocean under water be disrupted by this process, but the culture of Gullah/Geechees above the water will be at risk of having to deal with the negative impacts that would come from this testing and any offshore drilling. We are already having major impacts from climate change due to human behaviors and this is something that will only cause another problem for the continued existence our traditions and culture on the land and in the waterways of the southeast. The Gullah/Geechee Sea Island Coalition is against the use of these sonic cannons and against offshore drilling on the east coast. Please learn from the damage that has been done to other coastal communities and stop this attempt to make the east coast a new test case.
