I am sitting at the edge of Lake Ontario with Toronto Island in view and the city skyline behind it. The beginning of five days here to re-energize. 2014 was quite an adventure. A year ago I was attempting to liquidate the store, with three generators running trying to keep some things frozen and other things from freezing, like my pipes, which ended up freezing anyway. I cannot believe how far weve come. The building now exists. There is lots of work still to be done, but we are well on the path to creating a new definition of a grocery store, a store that sells food that exceeds our expectations in quality and transparency. None of this has been possible without the incredible commitments from staff and also the customers that are so committed to supporting us in our efforts.
