I am sitting here at Sloan Kettering Memorial Cancer Center in New York. My cousin is mentally ill; my sister and I are his guardians. I brought him here today for the removal of an esophageal tumor. As I sit here I am looking at all of the families whose lives were changed with the diagnosis of cancer. Many of my friends have battled it and won, and I have lost others who were way too young. I have friends who recently lost loved ones and dear friends who were recently diagnosed. Cancer seems to touch all of us these days. This gives me profound appreciation for my friends and family, and for my own good health. Life changes much too quickly.
