I am sitting here, channel surfing, watching the D-DAY memorials, and I think Ive figured out something. Since WW2, we have avoided war. We of course, fought them anyway, as military or police actions. Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan and others, to the soldiers, its all the same. But to us, especially our youth, it has given a false picture of what the world is. When I speak to younger members of my family, they see the world as I did in the 60s, a beautiful, free, wonderful place, that is only sullied by oil corporations, out of control capitalists, by the death of the rainforests, that those are the evils that need to be confronted. In some ways they are right. They choose not to see the world is a dangerous place. There exists in all areas of this world, ethnic murder, people killed by the tens of thousands, female genital mutilation, subjection of entire populations, in North Korea, in the Middle East, in Africa, slavery, many of these under the umbrella of Islam. I am sure there are millions of proper Muslims, that dont hold to honor killings and execution of anyone of another faith. But it dawns in me, today, D-DAY, that evil still exists in this world. And we cant just will it away, or pretend that if we were just nicer, everything would be OK. Real evil.......Im not a big religious guy, but Ive lived long enough to have seen evil and most importantly, recognized it. It must be confronted, and put back in the ground where it belongs, like it began on this day, 70 years ago. Its not going to be content to simply exist, its nature and stated objective is to convert the world, to bring all thought and life on earth, under their control. This has happened before, and will happen again, it is the nature of man, to look at the face of evil and say oh that could never happen here. But it can and will, we can only hope we have the strength and leadership to face the coming storm, with the incredible selflessness our grandfathers did 70 years ago today. After that is addressed, we can look after endangered species, greedy oil companies, and all the other pimples on the planet. But history is repeating itself, dont forget it, dont deny it. Pappy
