I am sitting here in our home in Alexandria having moved from the Home of the Commandants a few weeks ago. The Home of the Commandants stands ready to receive and welcome General and Mrs Dunford Friday morning following the Passage of Command of the Marine Corps. What a grand and glorious occasion it will be for both Jim and Me and the Dunfords. We know that the Home and this Corps will welcome the Dunfords with open arms, embracing them every step of the adventure upon which they are about to embark. As for Jim and me, we will leave this Corps with so many wonderful, amazing and funfilled memories, too many to even begin to recall at this late hour. But each one of you have played a part in those memories and we will always be so very grateful. The flag will be passed from Jim to Gen Dunford tomorrow, Jim and I will walk down Center Walk at the Oldest Post in the Corps for the last time, get into our 1972 Yellow Volkswagon Convertible (with our 4 Grandbabies) and wave farewell to a Marine Corps that we have been a part of for 44 years. Our hearts are happy, we are filled with smiles on our faces and we are ready to re-find ourselves with our family and friends, who, while standing squarely by our sides, have been patiently waiting for us. And we are ready. To our Marine Corps family, THANK YOU...THANK YOU for loving us, for embracing us, for allowing us to represent each of you for the past 4 years. But in many ways, thank you for trusting us with your lives, your heartaches, your issues, your problems, your joys and your successes. It has truly been our honor and we will forever cherish these memories. On this Facebook site, we have brought you programs, resources, stories, late=breaking news, Sleeves UP, and always MONDAY MORNINGS with CHESTY. In a very special post Mrs Dunford and I will transfer the MONDAY MORNINGS with CHESTY....and I am so thrilled to report that Mrs Dunford will continue to tradition and the joy of CHESTY who really really HATES Mondays...but then, dont we all? I love you all. I am in awe of your strengths, your determinations and your faithfulness. Know you are in my heart always. Jim and I bid each of you the fondest farewell and ....well see you in retirement...........Ill be the one smiling :-) All my best to you and STRONGEST HUGS ever! Bonnie
