I am sitting here looking at the news coverage of another mass shooting on the streets of Chicago. It made me think back 25 years or so when my family lived in Robert Taylor Projects on the south side of Chicago. I had seen so many shootings and other craziness that comes with living in the projects that I did not even know that it was not normal to live that way. I am so grateful today that my mom got so concerned about the safety of her kids that she had the courage to pack her stuff and leave. She went as far as the money in her pocket could take her - St. Louis. She knew no one. We were homeless for awhile. But God worked that all out. Today we are all alive and productive citizens who values our lives and the lives of others. I know today that was the best thing she could have done for us. Thanks mom for being so brave!
