I am so blessed! Say good-bye to 10 days of Christmas, I had 17 spectacular days!!! From December 18th to January 3rd I had family staying at my house. The count went from 6 people to 26 people. I had all six grandsons at my house for one whole week! I was also lucky enough to have nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, sister, and mom for a weekend. Misty and Avari were able to stay with us for four whole days. Our epic game of Catch Phrase left our cheeks hurting for a long time. Even John, who was in the bedroom putting baby Carter to sleep, found himself laughing out loud at one of our oops. (Note to Doc...I promise to study geography before our next game). We played various games of cards, we played Smart...Butt ( Kaden changed the name for us for the little kids and he became our expert at the game). We cooked, we baked, we talked, we shopped, we used Rachels ideas and patterns to make super-hero capes for the boys. We fed the horses, we fed the sheep, we played on the stack of hay bales, we scared the cows and made them run and bawl. We rode the horses; Chase found out you have to hold on tight when you ride Blanca with snow pants on! Kaden found out that its hard to swing your leg over with snowpants on. Gavin just wondered if this was a good idea not to put a saddle on!!!!!! Grandpa took Ryan and the boys around and around and around on sleds with the 4 wheeler. Kaden, Gavin, and I went for a moonlight ride on the two horses, then moonlight sledding. It was awesome, so (relatively warm), bright, and still. This is the first time that I have had the girls and others for such a wonderful, long, fun-filled time. As I looked around our group, it amazed me at the diversity of thought, occupation, food choice, hobbies, and ways of life. The gifts we exchanged were so telling of the love and thought and good will that went into their choosing. I still laugh at the picture of Doc and Ian with heads down, concentration at the max, putting their Chima Legos together. Also...since I have possession of the Star Quilt that Misty had made for Heather, I just might enjoy it a little while before I send it on to San Diego!!!! I have to admit that the first little time of TOTAL quiet was nice. But....now I have way more quiet than I ever wanted...Just send the boys back and nobody will get hurt!!!! For now, I look out at the yard where it looks like a manic centipede with little kids boots on went wild, and I smile a great big smile. That was one great Christmas Celebration. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you. P.S. Jake the dog is happy that he doesnt have to share his new Christmas bed with Lexie anymore!
