Tareque Masud (6 December 1956 – 13 August 2011) was a Bangladeshi-American independent film director, film producer, screenwriter and lyricist. He died in a road accident on 13 August 2011 while returning to Dhaka from Manikganj on the Dhaka-Aricha highway after visiting a filming location. Catherine Masud is an American-born filmmaker, residing in Bangladesh since 1995. And Lear Levin, a New York based cinematographer who risked his life to capture the video of the displaced, distressed people of Bangladesh caused by the barbaric attack of the Pakistani occupation forces since 25 March, 1971.
