I am so disappointed that the govt has failed to speak on our behalf concerning JEVIC which is a Japanese milking cow for Zambian buyers. A car is generally cheaper by $200-$450 without this nonsence called JEVIC. There is no proof that the cars are inspected and deemed fit for export, the sticker and the certificate dont exactly guarantee that the car is in standard condition for export. I have been to Japan and attended auctions with Japanese friends and they know they have a huge market in Africa especially Zambia which is one of the major importers. If indeed JEVIC is authentic a lot of used Japanese cars wouldnt give us problems from picking up point....my young brother once bought a car through Beforward and from the port to Zambia it struggled because 3 coils were basically dead...if that car was indeed inspected such problems would have been rectified. Issue of JEVIC has also brought corruption for cars coming from Europe and America...ZABS officials find loops for corruption...I had a huge quarrel with ZABS officers at Katima Mulilo when they demanded JEVIC for an American car...do they even know what JEVIC stands for? The Zambian govt needs to formulate a standard requirement for all vehicles coming into Zambia because not everyone imports Japanese used cars. Also get rid off JEVIC because its only fattening Japan and Zambia is not benefiting in any way because either way even scrap cars will still come in with a JEVIC certificate issued. JEVIC....jevic/
