I am so lucky. My father took me to visit the Potter Palmer - TopicsExpress

I am so lucky. My father took me to visit the Potter Palmer mansion before it was demolished. The next day he took me to mail a letter on the US POSTAL Car of the Chicago to New York limited train as it was pulling out of the station in downtown Chicago. He held me up to hand a letter to President Truman to the postal clerk through the open sliding door of the mail car. The clerk took the letter, saluted me, and said, Thank you Master Billy. In retrospect, he obviously knew my father. For many years I collected postal mail car post marked covers. Sadly, all but two were, lost, during my divorce and subsequent moves.
