I am so mad at how the government officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Immigration burnt the passports at Takoronga, Betio. Why would people from a ministry that regularly represents Kiribati at international fora do such a thing? I am not saying that the passports shouldnt be destroyed but look at the impacts of your actions. I am pretty sure there are other alternatives to use to destroy these passports. What upsets me is the fact that the people who we look up to and who hold very senior positions do something that contributes towards CLIMATE CHANGE. My message therefore is very simple: WHY DO IT, WHEN OUR GOVERNMENT IS SAYING WE ARE FIGHTING FOR SURVIVAL? To be honest, actions like this being done by people holding senior positions within government makes me ashamed to be an I-Kiribati. Send a clear message to the world: IF YOU WANT JUSTICE FOR CLIMATE CHANGE, DO YOUR PARTS TOO.
