I am so over the top excited!!! I just got off the phone with the vet we are using now on the west side. He basically said to keep on doing what we are doing because he has never had a dog come back from where Queenie was 4+? weeks ago when we had her in last and he x-rayed her. He was stunned when I told him how she was and what she is doing now. It is still totally possible at any moment she can take a final turn for the worse, but because she has made such enormous strides, he has no idea what might happen or the progression. We are still between a rock and a hard spot with her because the damage to the leg bone is immediately above the joint on the right rear leg and there is no place to put a pin in. But she is happy and has regained her spot in the pack as the top dog so that makes the rest of the schnauzers happy also. She has done several phenomenal things this last week. On Monday when the internet guys were here working outside, one walked up to the front door. She was laying on her couch next to me and in a heartbeat she was up on the front couch just the way she use to be barking out the window. I got up and grabbed her and gently guided her down. This morning she went out with all of the dogs and she and Hank use to face bark and threaten each other after they were outside. For the first time this morning in more than two months, she did that and forced poor Hank off the porch. She does get on the leather couch as she uses her couch pillows as a step to get up there. She uses the bad leg with very limited use but she does use it to steady herself. So I have gotten ACE knee bandages for humans, one for each leg, and I am going to make a brace for her with those and heavy duty velcro. She is still on tramadol twice a day and very minimally on the two other meds. We are going to refill all of them and keep her on the tramadol but use the others at half dosage. But have them here if we need them. She takes her DGP for pets every morning and that is really our only thing that has caused this change. We had checked out a vet to come to our home to send her to the Bridge and I gave the DGP as a last resort type of thing. I am just stunned that she has done so well and he is even more so I think. He said IF she is still doing so well in six weeks, we can come back for another leg x-ray to see what is happening. He said it would almost be for scientific reasons because as long as she is doing well, it doesnt matter. But we could actually monitor the bone to see if the cancer is progressing or as kind of slowed down or what. I cant thank you enough for voting for VSGSR in that contest. I know I had heard of DGP before but never really needed something like that, so hadnt investigated further. So thank you DGP for pets!!
