I am so proud to have been a part of the planning and execution of this Black led direct action! People were initially worried that making this just a Black-only space would mean we wouldnt have numbers but we were all we needed. Black people showing up for Black people and we did it! We successfully shut down the West Oakland Bart Station!!! We had a message and we relayed it with a purpose: Black lives matter and end the war on Black people I am very honored to have been able to work with organizers in #BlackLivesMatter and The BlackOUT Collective, I have truly learned so much about organizing movements and planning through these beautiful people. The healing space we created with help and direction of Haitian Vodun elders made me feel simultaneously light and sad at the same time. It is a wonderous and beautiful thing to honor your ancestors and fallen. Black people from all walks of life came and mourned and celebrated in our circle. Those who made the sacrifice to take an arrestible role chaining themselves to BART to stop business as usual are some the most bravest ppl Ive ever had the grace of meeting. We are currently at Santa Rita prison waiting for the last person to get released :) This action has made national news outlets, from Al Jazeera to KTVU channel 2! I just cant believe I was a part of somethin so important. Still reeling from the feeling and awe of Black power and community tbh
