I am so tired of the political posturing in Washington DC. - TopicsExpress

I am so tired of the political posturing in Washington DC. Democrats clamoring that they have to have more tax revenue, Republicans yelling for spending cuts and Americans held hostage by two gangs of economic thugs in a political pissing match. Democrats want more taxes in the coffers so they can spend more money, so long as it appears that their lower and middle class citizens are not affected. Republicans want to cut government programs, so long as they are not the Republican pet projects. Will someone tell me where the boundaries of Middle class lie? Even the government will not draw definitive boundaries; instead using the ambiguous term to draw the most sympathy with their constituents. Where is the boundary? The closest answer I can get is that 95% of Americans are self identified as “Middle Class”. Oh I can get statistics that say 13% of Americans earn below the poverty level, but even then, only half identify themselves as lower class. This fluidity of the boundaries of the middle class makes me very suspicious of those that claim they are only looking out for those people. There is only one group I am completely convinced that the politicians are looking out for; this group is not their constituency but rather the politicians themselves. Rank and file Rep - $174,000 – 432 - $75,168,000 Majority leader - $193,400 - 1 Minority Leader - $193,400 - 1 Speaker - $223,500 – 1 Senate - $174,000 – 98 - $17,052,000 Maj Leader – 193,400 - 1 Min Leader – 193,400 – 1 Total - $93, 216,100 These numbers obviously represent so called upper class citizens or they would never have been able to run a successful campaign to be elected to their position. So using the popular call to raise taxes on the rich and give to the poor, take all congressional, presidential and vice presidential salaries and use them to fund training centers to help the underprivileged to raise themselves to a higher standard of living.
