I am so very touched with the text and Facebook messages, as well as emails Ive received since we lost a huge part of our family, my sweet cousin, Dorothy Crites or as we affectionately called her, Dot. Our family is simply heartbroken. Dot always lightened a room, loved everyone, had the notorious loud and contagious Crites laughter, could out drink the best of them, was always ready to have a great time and made certain those around her had the time of their life. We are a very large and tight knit family. Dot was the oldest granddaughter and touched each and everyone of us. We all have numerous fond memories of her and her antics. Dot never met a stranger and would have nothing to do with negativity or sadness. She took life lightly and never had regrets. When you are apart of a huge family, just under 100 cousins, you take it for granted. You think everyone has this many relatives. Having so many relatives, you experience a lot of loss and often. Thankfully, there are many present during our tragic times, that all you must do is turn around and find yourself in a loved ones open arms. There were many of us present today. We cried, shared stories, laughed, and cried again...then laughed. We always find humor in our darkest and saddest moments....thats how the Crites Clan rolls. Dot will be missed. Those words cannot even come close to how lonely it will be without her at our family gatherings. She consumed a room, as well as our hearts. I ask that you please keep our family in your prayers. Many will be coming into town for Dots going away party.....as you can imagine, it will be one hellva celebration! Please pray for their safe travels. Please pray for Gods continued presence in our lives, to give us comfort and strength. If your life was fortunate enough to experience that of Dot, you should consider yourself blessed. God only puts Angels like her on Earth, once in a lifetime. R.I.P. Dorothy Ann Crites. We love you, dearly.
