I am somewhat paranoid I guess, because of the NSA, FBI, IRS and all that has been happening. I am not a journalist, or anyone of any influence, Im just me. Im a veteran of the US Army, having the honor of serving under the greatest president since Abe Lincoln and George Washington: Ronald Reagan. I am a Proud Veteran!!! I have the honor of now serving veterans in another way, caring for them in a nursing home. I work for the Tennessee State Veterans Home. Our motto is Proudly serving those who served. I have had the honor of speaking with WWII soldiers, sailors and marines, and the heard the pride in their voices as they spoke about their service. The honor they felt as they were chosen to defend this Great Nation (Their words), knowing that they may not make it home. The fact that so many did not make it home is the punctuation to their sentences. The Greatest Generation is dying off, and they still have something to say to the rest of the nation, the world, but their voice is being squashed by the current Societal Standards promoted today. Veterans are forgotten except on Veterans Day, and then, the sacrifice they offered is down played by the media. These brave men and women offered themselves on the altar of freedom, and that freedom is being taken from us, not by a foreign land, but by our own government. The Freedoms that were earned in blood in 1776, kept in 1812, developed further in 1860 by ending slavery, promoted to other nations as proof that we are stronger because of those freedoms in 1914, 1941, 1950. Politicians have gutted the military, and because of that, what could have ended in a Victory in Korea and freedom for the entire nation, ended in a tie in 1953 with the formation the 38th Parallel and the DMZ (Korean Demilitarized Zone). Then we have the Vietnam War, which we could have won but for the politicians who decided what was best for the country was to allow our soldiers to die for nothing. The politicians decided what the military could do, not the generals, not the ones who were fighting. And because of the media and News at 11 Mentality, and seeing the war in their living rooms every night, the Vietnam Vets came home to criticism and blame for being Child killers. No one knows the personal sins they had to live with, just to be able to come home. And then feeling the personal guilt for having made it home, and then having to face a public that hated them. No wonder the Vietnam Vets are dying off at a rate faster than all other vets, because they cant forgive themselves. Think about something: How can you ask God to forgive you if you cant forgive yourself? They are on more medications for depression, more medication for other mental disorders than any other generation. This is the price they paid, because of the politicians. The Greatest Generation still has words of wisdom for us. We need to listen because they are leaving us, and they are truly the last generation that had the full support of the US government and its politicians. They remember what it was like to be The Greatest Fighting Force in the World.
