I am sooo tired of all of the petty criticism of women on my feed. It is particularly hard to read when it comes from other women. Darlings, society has told us that the ultimate prize is male attention and that every other girl in the room is competing for it. It makes us feel validated by male approval and interest and threatened by other women who may get in the way of that. But when you announce your hate for other women, or generalize other women as shallow or catty, you are really just reducing women to a stereotype in an attempt to convince others that it somehow does not apply to you. Do not be affected by anyone who shames you for what makes you feel confident or helps you to celebrate that confidence. Take a million selfies. Wear as little or as much makeup as you want. Practice a profession that makes you feel successful, and do your best to support one another in pursuit of those things. Oppressive beliefs are everywhere, and despite any attempt to question or resist them, they are woven into the daily fabric of our society. Stop criticizing one another and like each others selfies more often.
