I am sorry, but a gentleman does not need your approval or consent to be a gentleman. I will call you Maam. I am a Southern Gentleman and a veteran. I will open your door, I will rise when you enter a room. I will give up my seat for you. I will extend my hand, look you in the eye, and introduce myself. I will pull out your chair and open your car door. I will offer to help you reach that tall item in the grocery aisle or to carry your packages. I take that back, I am not at all sorry. Manners may be dying and chivalry may be dead, but I am not and as long as I live, I will continue to be a gentleman, whether you choose to be a lady or not.
