I am standing in front of a camera that will livestream me leading a Tai Chi session to some remote location, where a dozen Korean senior citizens are assembled to follow along, while watching me on a large tv screen. I can see them on a large tv screen in front of me and to my left. Behind me, my back to them, another half-dozen Korean senior citizens and a half-dozen deaf persons are standing or seated, ready to follow me by watching the young Korean woman who is standing to my left facing them, as she mirrors me. To my right, a sign language interpreter is facing the people behind me, ready to alternate the Tai Chi gestures with explanations in American Sign Language, using both hands, of course. Behind her, a Korean woman is seated, interpreting my English Tai Chi banter / instructions into Korean. We are 15 minutes late getting started, because the entire staff of the retirement center is offsite at a meeting, so no one is on hand to summon would-be participants. The dozen folks at the remote location were on time, early, waited 20 minutes, grew testy. All I ask for to begin the class is a glass of water. It is hot. I have walking. I have been driving. I am about to talk nonstop for one hour. I am thirsty. I ask for a glass of water. No one can find one for me. I have to start anyway. The Korean interpreter does not know the word for "jaw." She does not know the word for "melt." Often after I speak, silence follows, as she does a vocabulary check online. Or as she takes pictures. I gesture and talk with parched tongue. Is this a dream? (See my comment below for the answer.)
