I am still frustrated at the lack of understanding and empathy - TopicsExpress

I am still frustrated at the lack of understanding and empathy from a person who should care about my child with disabilities, instead of publicly and loudly berating and embarrassing my autistic son. Well, she yelled at my child, then I yelled at her for traumatizing my child. One of the few times I actually got angry with someone. Yes, I am frustrated and disappointed in the system. Now my child is terrified to go to summer school. I hope the woman feels good about terrifying a child with disabilities. Maybe now she will think about how she treats other students with disabilities. I really hope so. I would have not known about this incident if my son did not tell me. So what happens with all the nonverbal students with disabilities? How are we, as parents, to know if our child has been treated unfairly and harshly? It is sad to think about it. I love my son on the spectrum. We do not mistreat him; why should we allow anyone else to verbally mistreat him? NO. NO. NO.
