I am tempted to use 4 letter words but I will refrain, instead I would like to pose a few questions :- 1) Where are the projection figures that capital gains tax and inheritance tax can match that of GST, and what are the basis of those projection ? 2) In event Moodys downgrades our currency if we dont implement GST (they have warmed us twice already) what are his plans to stem the severe devaluation of our currency ? 3) When capital gains tax is implemented what are his plans to stem capital flight to more tax friendly markets ? In the first place what is the quantum proposed ? 4) Inheritance tax - again beyond rhetoric what is the quantum proposed ? many countries with more experience than us failed to collect much revenue because there are many loopholes, so is Anwar going to teach them how to do it ? Even a cow can moo and say inheritance tax, but where is your detailed scheme, with terms and conditions ? I am now wondering whether this is a sincere alternative budget or knee jerk response to get political mileage.
