I am terribly confused by this, and Im hoping someone can help me understand... 1. There is a video of Michael Brown robbing a store (which now has been burned down by criminals) and pushing around the store owner just prior to his interaction with the police. He also had marijuana in his blood at the time of death according to toxicology reports, and was carrying a bag of it on his body. Finally, there is strong evidence that he attacked a much smaller police officer with his fists, attempting to grab the weapon from his holster. Despite all of this, there seem to be a large number of people who are intent on portraying Michael Brown as a hero. What am I missing? 2. A Ferguson Grand Jury, after examining a mind-boggling amount of evidence, decided that Officer Wilson had not committed a crime in killing Michael Brown. This Grand Jury is a part of a system of justice that in large part has allowed the United States to rise from the shambles of revolution and civil war to a position of preeminence in the modern world, and yet because their final decision did not adhere to popular (and wildly uninformed) opinion, there is rioting in the streets, theft, arson, assaults, and general lawlessness. What am I missing? 3. Activists called for a boycott on white owned businesses during Black Friday as well as a walk out of work and school today as a way of showing solidarity behind Michael Brown and disparaging the Ferguson Police department and their actions. The symbol of raising your hands has become synonymous with protesting the shooting death of Brown, presumably based on now-discredited witness statements that claim Michael Brown had his hands in the air when he was shot. Five St Louis Rams players also seized their opportunity to join in the protest during their game against the Raiders this last Sunday. Ironically, it was the St Louis Police Department who turned out in force to protect those same players from the rioting that was anticipated during the game. What would happen if police officers around the United States decided to join the protest by walking out of the police departments and letting everyone fend for themselves? How long would it take for criminals like the one pictured below to administer their own form of justice? WHAT AM I MISSING HERE?
