I am thankful (and a collection of my viewing): for you, and you, and you, and all of the you who shine on my path. for the traditions that gives me love for mine, and love for those that i walk with in this times space who reject these. for these, and you all, reminding me that i do not live disconnected. for my Mother, deaths intones loves interpretation, reposed six months past. for my family, my godchildren, friends, and their families, and you who remind me of the same. ...might all know at least this much love lived. I embrace the mythos, the stories, the layers, and the layers under them, romantic as this may be, because it is in our stories we see one anothers uniqueness, and somehow a story reveals itself. I embrace this collective uniqueness and, on a good day, behold through a prism how one is both one and many. i write timothy r gates, 5/11/2013 i write as i breathe, like i breathe, while i inhale, exhale. sometimes its clearly given, received at times i miss, coughs and sneezing. breathing, ill do till im dust. not writing, like standing without feet - must walk. must write. lines feed other lines, some give light so the blind scribbles can see. Poetry, music and oils were okay, liberated from puppets lines. mediocrity at ball games, in short time, they got it, this real boy made up his own rules. Guitar, trombone Paints, spaces between words rhythm gave way to resurrections, a Quartets canvasses known by Pen and paper. my Mother died today timothy r gates, 5/22/2014 answers to questions questions need no answers magic pretends mysteries extend If i die before I wake, i pray the Lord, my soul to take. Book of the dead Mourners prayer of Kaddish Mnemósynon Panikhída Parastas Memory Eternal -- ways of saying we do not know. We pray We shake our fists We wonder, not in amazement Were sad, yet glad Were tired, yet pleased theyre not We weep, grieving and happy today questions and answers are eclipsed by love -- my Mother died today. Thanksgiving? timothy r gates, 12/28/2013 Thanksgiving? Separatists or Pilgrims Calvinists or Anglo-Catholics Indigenous or Nomads - run out of time? People already here were used by People who left their indigenous home due to being violated by People who thought it their right to violate People they believed to be less than real People. Sound familiar? First American Thanksgiving, it was what it was. Eucharistic aphorisms, grateful hallelujahs (same word in more than a few languages) join in Leonard Cohens never innocuous hymn -- I do not pretend that the story of my youth was, or is true. I am grateful, it is not the first Thanksgiving it is not the time of State religions (yes, originally States had these, like State birds) it is not the time of the misogynist, or the misandrist it is not the time of slavery, or even indentured servitude (note, debt is a voluntary servitude) it is not the time when gay only meant happy, or that happy cannot describe being gay it is not a time of legal segregation, or a time of the illegality of mixed unions it is not the time of the fewest controlling wealth, (Oops! This is still the same, different time, same %.) I am thankful, for love lived for love lived for love lived. youtube/watch?v=lfnCX6hj_9I&list=RDSHPgBd-T0pU Lord have mercy Gospodi pomilui Kyrie eleison Yā Rabbu ram Adon raem na Domine, miserere qiúzhǔ lián mǐn A Thighearna, dèan tròcair oirnn, Namaste. For every soldier, Lord have mercy. For every enemy, Lord have mercy. For every innocent, Lord have mercy. For every child used, Lord have mercy. For every violator, Lord have mercy. For every violated, Lord have mercy. For every peace maker, Lord have mercy. For every person filled with hatred, Lord have mercy. For every person living love, Lord have mercy. For every person hungry, every person lonely, every person thirsty, every person without a bed, every person forgotten, please let a person who sees God before them in these -- share mercy they too know. Mercy is known as it is shown, please let me be both. i know not eternity, heaven or hell, God or, save for now -- i hope i remember this. Namaste.
