I am thrilled with a song I just found! I got in contact with a son of Alfred B Smith and found a song my sister and I have never been able to find. It was sung at her wedding in memory of our Dad (thanks to a gifted musician who transcribed the music as she heard it). This is lovely and for us heart-stirring words by W. Claire Greiner and music by Alfred B Smith.... There is going to be a wedding Preparations have been made, The Church awaits her summons, In white garments shes arrayed; Keep waiting for that trumpet sound, Keep watching for that day, When from the sky the angel shouts, The King is on His way! It may be noon or midnight, When the Bridegroom shall appear; Hell part the curtains of the sky And then His voice Ill hear; The dead in Christ shall rise again, Well meet them in the air; And oh what singing there will be When we assemble there. The clouds will form the background As the Saints ascend through space, And there well meet the Saviour And gaze upon His face; And then through courts of Heaven Right up to the Fathers throne The Lord will lead His chosen ones And claim them for His own. I can feel a gentle stirring As I view the eastern sky; The One I love is on His way-- I know His comings nigh; Oh wont you join me now, my friend And with me watch and wait; The signs predict His soon return, Perhaps Hes at the gate! Therell be rejoicing when the Lord shall come; What glorious harmony round the Fathers throne; Real joy unending at our blessed Saviours side; And love eternal for His chosen Bride.
