I am tired of hearing people claim racism no longer exists. Its denying a problem we all know exists and we must all confront. While we are not all racists we still have some issues to sort out. Why is it that blacks see police a lot differently than whites? Maybe its because we expect blacks to commit crimes. So no wonder many blacks have a negative attitude towards police. And when they fire tear gas to stop peaceful protests thats crazy. And when they release video thats UNRELATED to the shooting just to slander the victim is wrong. Just adds fuel to the fire. Being from the seattle area Ive seen our unfortunate officer involved shootings. Its always unfortunate when an officer has to use force. Assuming that the use was justified, which even under the most rigorous standard is usually the case, its traumatic on the officer. But one thing Ive taken for granted here is this: the employer of the officer who shot does not do the investigation. They do not talk directly to the public about the investigation. They let the other department which has nothing at stake themselves conduct the investigation and answer the inquiries. We also have an inquest jury to help decide if it was justified. The family of the decease, the state, and the officer all can participate to help get answers to find out if it was justified. Once this is concluded then based on the results of the investigation the officer would be able to return to duty if cleared of fault and if they are otherwise ready to return (any psychological help needed given). In ferguson you have their pd talking about it. They should be keeping their mouth shut. I dont know what really happened. But I am ashamed as to the behavior of the police in ferguson. Its really unfortunate.
