I am tired of the well-meaning but ultimately offensive reassurances from friends/colleagues that terrorist attacks dont define Muslims and Islam. Of course they dont: hence why the majority of terrorist attacks in the West are not committed by Muslims, and why, overwhelmingly, Canadian Muslims do not support violence against civilians. If Im supposed to be consoling everyone who is tangentially related by religious/ethnic affiliation to a violent attack, then I have a lot of consoling to do.
