I am traveling to Kenya in September to support a medical team of doctors and nurses to bring medical care to the Pokot. We will be sharing the Gospel with people who are in need of ultimate healing by using medical science as a bridge allowing us to accomplish this. Our trip begins on September 13th with a flight into Nairobi, continuing with a 1-2 day drive into the bush to our base camp in Chepturu. From there, we will be traveling 1-3 hours “off-road” in 4-wheel drive vehicles to reach the meeting spot for the daily clinic. Many Pokot will travel by foot for days to reach these clinics. For most of the people we minister to, this will be the only medical care they receive in their lifetime. The people of the Pokot tribe are lacking in the most essential basic needs. Lack of medical care, along with lack of safe drinking water and food result in a life expectancy of 52 years and even worse is that only 1 in 5 lives past the age of 5. If this is a cause you believe in and want to support financially, please go to kensingtonchurch.org, click on “Global/Local”, click “Short Term trips”, choose Kenya Medical trip in September, and using the dropdown box select Jean Dowis. The last day for making a donation is July 25th. If this is not something you are interested in donating to I would request that you add not only me but our team to your prayer list. As always I am filled with gratitude with a donation of any size and equally grateful for prayers. Blessing you each and everyone one of you.
