I am truly saddened at the horror inflicted on someone who I once considered the enemy. Owen and I didnt like each other very much. We didnt understand each other and whenever we were around the other it was like two cur dogs circling and eyeing the other warily. But just this past 12th Night he and I sat down and for once truly TALKED with each other. We explained our actions and motivations. We apologized for those wrongs committed and explained when we didnt feel wed done wrong. I talked to him about the importance of the arms blazoned on his shield (which is why we were talking in the first place). We ended that conversation with a hug. I wont say that we are now CLOSE friends. But we are friends. Id invite him and his family to stay at our house if they were in town. Last night they lost everything, including their oldest son, in a house fire. For a man I once, in my darkest moments, wished misfortune I now weep for their loss. April and I will help in any way we can but I know they are surrounded by people who have loved them for years. Our deepest condolences and sympathy go out to Owen and Geneveria. Nobody should have to deal with such tragedy.
