I am trying to be organized. Really I am, but this happened on the fly so I dont feel very organized. Anyway... in an effort to BE ORGANIZED ~~ 1. To get the location of the Donation Day Event you must email me or get the information from someone. My email is ccole@myway. Someone said that it feels almost like the French Resistance... good works underground. Too bad we received the early threats. I keep thinking those Open Carry folks would look silly showing up to disrupt a volunteer charity event.. but then I remember.. when has that ever stopped them? 2. Please plan on giving at least two hours of time. I know most of you cant stay all day but two hours is awesome! 3. YES!!! You may bring donations to us on Donation Day. I will print the list of items at the end of this note. It would help if you bring the *STAR* items in a box that is labeled. 4. I need some firm commitments to help load the UHaul at my house. This is early morning .. starts at 6:45 am. I will have dollies but strong folks are needed. The UHaul will be driven to the donation day event for sorting. 5. I need folks to be in Ft. Worth at @ 3 pm to help unload the trucks. Catholic Charities is not open that day so they have limited staff for unloading. They are opening special for this donation. 6. Bring water please. Also, consider a snack item. Hungry, thirst work is ahead. 7. We will have a childrens area. They are making cards. 8. There are a lot of places to eat with-in a mile of the Donation Day facility. All price ranges or brown bag it. *** Donation Items accepted ~~ Backpacks Water-bottles Blankets Plastic Box for hygiene items (shoe box size) Chapstick Comb & Brush Shampoo & Conditioner Toothbrush, toothpaste & travel toothbrush holder Soap and travel soapbox STAR ITEMS NEED TO BE BOXED & LABELED ** Girls hair ties, barrettes etc. **Deodorant **Diapers **Baby wipes **Desitin **Infant Bath items **Pull ups **Feminine Hygiene Supplies (pads) **Ink-pens & Pencils **Kleenex **School supplies **Peanut butter and jelly **Water, juice, and Gatorade **Canned soups, vegetables, fruits, and canned meat (tuna, chicken, etc) **Bags of rice and beans ** “Just add water” meals (Ramen noodles or instant meals) **Laundry soap and bleach **Cleaning supplies **Standard dishes and glasses **Pots and Pans I am encouraging Donation Day last minute Donations in case you did not have time or did not choose to use the Amazon link...tell your friends, neighbors and groups to start getting the items together to bring to us. We will have to stop taking donations at 1PM. So.. if you are bringing stuff please be there by one. We have to make sure items are labeled and on the truck. ~~~ Good idea.. bring a sharpie to mark boxes and such. Easy craft activities for little guys might be a bonus. **** PLEASE NOTE ~~~ we are not set up to take cash donations. NO cash can be accepted. If you prefer to make a cash donation send the check directly to Catholic Charities. General location is East Dallas near Ferguson & I-30 7 am to 3 pm. Ft. Worth 3 pm to 4 pm. Just for fun.. wear a tee that promotes your organization.. church.. political candidate.. group... etc. My choice of tee shirts tell a lot about me.. We can really show the world that diverse groups CAN work together. I will be wearing a What Happens In Texas tee. :-)
