I am very excited to officially announce that I have accepted a position offer as Hospital Manager for VCA Fort Collins Animal Hospital, a 5-doctor practice in a state-of-the-art facility. I will begin there on November 20, with my last day as Greene County Extension Coordinator on November 18. This new position will allow me to move to Fort Collins, Colorado, where my wife Crystal Cooley moved in July to begin a three-year veterinary residency in small animal internal medicine at Colorado State University. Additionally, this move will give me the opportunity to continue to enhance my skills as a manager while exploring the business and corporate field. At VCA Fort Collins, I will be responsible for supervising and supporting 8-12 technicians and administrative staff, working with the hospitals medical director to manage overall operations, ensuring growth and profitability of the practice, facility and equipment maintenance/management, as well as marketing, public relations, and community outreach. Although Im looking forward to this new role, the decision to leave Greene County Extension was certainly not an easy one. I have truly enjoyed my time here and will miss it like crazy. Im proud of all Ive been able to make happen with the help of a very capable staff of co-workers, an outstanding Extension Council, and a remarkable community of volunteers, leaders, and organizations. I also want to thank so many friends, family members, and other ISU Extension staff across the state who have supported me throughout the past 3 1/2 years in this fun and challenging position. I will miss Greene County, not to mention Iowa, and I think my wife and I can both say we hope to be back somewhere, sometime!
