I am very grateful there are so many folks who want yard signs. Feel free to make your own, and you can use campaign logos or images any way you like. As long as there are no curse words, you have my blessing and my thanks. Im not making yard signs for 2 reasons. One is they have a lousy cost-benefit ratio. Theres evidence that they dont make a difference in vote totals. Besides the cost to buy them and the stakes, theres a whole lot of shipping involved to distribute them, They are big and clunky and annoying to gather up after the election. As if anybody does that. Overall a rather labor-intensive operation. Which leads to my other reason, some simple practical environmentalism. At 7.30pm on 11/4, political signs magically transmute from vibrant political speech to unsightly roadside litter. I personally am sick of seeing them cluttering the roads for weeks postelection. I dont want to contribute to that.
